**Apollonian Seminar 2023**
In 2023, the Apollonian Seminar organized by the Ognian Radev Foundation signed a cooperation agreement with the Municipality of Sozopol and the archaeological mission in Ravdinovo. The seminar has a history of field training, which includes morning practical sessions on archaeological sites from the classical Hellenistic period. Key highlights are the excavations, field conservation, and the documentation and cleaning of ceramics. The afternoon sessions include theoretical activities focused on cultural heritage, which involve expertise and connections from several fields.
In 2023, participants were divided into 3 groups from over 7 schools in Sozopol, Sofia, and across Bulgaria, as well as 3 universities. Topics covered included the architectural heritage of Sozopol houses, church art, and museum experiences with similar architectural-archaeological complexes in Italy and France.
At the end of the seminar, during an official ceremony in the city center, attended by local residents, guests of Sozopol, and the Deputy Mayor, the entire archaeological mission led by Ms. Pavlina Devlova and all participants were publicly presented with a summary of the archaeological work completed. This included research on Sozopol’s history from the elderly residents and ideas discussed by the seminar participants for the future presentation of St. Ivan Island.
