Ognian Radev (1955-2015) is a key figure for generations of students from the National High School for Ancient Languages and Cultures, the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts, and New Bulgarian University in the fields of ancient Greco-Roman culture, ancient theater, and Ancient Greek language. He was a classical philologist, a translator of texts from Ancient Greek, the director of the only authentic ancient theater troupe of its time, the deputy director of the National Classical Lyceum, and an inspiration to many of his students who later pursued careers in science, the arts, or education.
The idea
The Ognian Radev Foundation was established as a cultural and educational platform in memory of Ognian Radev, who left a lasting legacy in Bulgaria’s modern cultural and educational history, continuing to influence these fields even after his passing in 2015. 🧩

The founders are among his students, and the idea is supported by his family, friends, researchers, and educators from the fields of classical philology, archaeology, architecture, restoration, theater, set design, music, and advertising. 🎈

he foundation collaborates with representatives from several universities and schools in Bulgaria and abroad, cultural institutions at the state and private levels, museum institutions, and research teams from international consortia. The foundation also partners with other NGOs, as well as state, municipal, and international organizations related to cultural heritage, education, and cooperation.🌱
