Cultural heritage

What we do

One of the two main areas of activity of the foundation in memory of Ognian Radev is the research, preservation, and promotion of cultural heritage from antiquity to the present day. To achieve this, the foundation organizes training sessions, seminars, lectures, field expeditions, summer schools, conferences, and other initiatives. The institutions with which the foundation has collaborated include: the Regional History Museum-Sofia, the National Archaeological Institute with Museum - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Archaeological Museum in Sozopol, the Historical Museum in Primorsko, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," the National Culture Fund; Sofia Municipality and its “Culture” program, the Region of Sicily, the Ministry of Culture and Cultural Heritage in Italy, the Archaeological Park in Agrigento, the Ancient Theatre in Taormina, the Archaeological Complex in Syracuse, the Epigraphic Museum in Athens, the Conservation Laboratory of the Acropolis in Athens, and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Corinthia.

Several initiatives have already become longstanding traditions, with the foundation working under signed multilateral agreements. These include:
1. The Apollo Seminar for Cultural Heritage in Sozopol (in collaboration with the Municipality of Sozopol and the archaeological expedition of the National History Museum), followed by
2. The field training and work in Athens in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities and the cultural heritage organization "Diadrasis." In Athens, we have also successfully developed relationships with the Italian Mission and the American School of Classical Studies.
3. The Architectural Heritage Seminar is another initiative of the Ognian Radev Foundation, which we successfully implement in collaboration with one of the newest and most modern cultural and public centers, HyperSpace, created by the tech company and our friends from WPX.

Other specialists and experts from various fields with whom we have collaborated work at institutions such as the University of Bologna, the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, and the New Bulgarian University.
